ORD 2000-11 CITY COUNCILMEMBER SALARIESORDINANCE NO. 2000-11
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington,
Relating to the salary for the City Council members beginning in
2002; mending Section 1, of Ordinance No. 99-35 and Section 1,
of Ordinance No. 95-34.
WHEREAS, in Ordinance No. 95-34, the City established the salary for City
Council members at $400 per month, with annual increases based on a percentage of the
most recently calculated annual increase in the all urban consumer price index for the
Seattle-Tacoma area; and
WHEREAS, in Ordinance No. 99-35, the City amended Ordinance No. 95-34, to
provide that the salary of the City Council members shall be $600 per month beginning in
2002, with annual increases beginning in 2003 based on a percentage of the most recently
calculated annual increase in the all urban consumer price index for the Seattle-Tacoma
area; and
WHEREAS, based on an opinion issued by the State Auditor's Office, the City
has determined that the salary of Council members should not be increased automatically
by a percentage of the most recently calculated annual increase in the all urban consumer
price index for the Seattle-Tacoma area; now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 1, of Ordinance No. 99-35 and Section 1, of Ordinance No.
95-34, are amended to read as follows:
The salary of the City Council shall be $600.00 per month beginning in 2002;--:
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force five days from
and after its passage, approval and publication, as required by law.
