RES 2000-25 CLOSURE OF BELFAIR AVE AND IMPROVEMENT OF ROBERTSON AVECITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-25
A RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, to close
Belfair Avenue, located between Radio School Road and Soundview Drive
and to improve Robertson Avenue within the Fort Ward Estates development.
WHEREAS, the Fort Ward Action Plan recommends that a decision be made to
develop either Robertson or Belfair Avenues; and
WHEREAS, The Fort Ward Neighborhood Association presented their
preference to close Belfair Avenue and improve Robertson Avenue at the July 5, 2000
Public Works Committee meeting; and
WHEREAS, The Engineering Department is in favor of improving Robertson
Avenue due to the current access configuration showing Robertson Avenue is needed for
property access; and
WHEREAS, The Public Works Committee recommends to Council to close
Belfair and improve Robertson Avenue; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND DOES .RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Belfair Road will be closed between Radio School Road and Soundview
Drive with an easement retained for pedestrian access.
Section 2. The collapsed culvert at Belfair either needs to be replaced with a new culvert
or a footbridge pending availability of public or private funds.
Section 3. At the appropriate time Robertson Avenue will be improved by the owners of
the parcels that will utilize it for access in accordance with City design standards.
