ORD NO. 2016-23 ESTABLISHING ANNUAL FEE FOR SSWM RATES IN 2017ORDINANCE NO. 2016-23
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington,
establishing the annual fee of the City's storm and surface water
management utility for 2017.
WHEREAS, chapter 35.67 RCW provides that cities are authorized to establish storm water
(also known as "storm sewer") utilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bainbridge Island has had a Storm and Surface Water Management
(formerly "Storm Drain") utility since 1987; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the rate policy set forth in Section 13.24.070 of the Bainbridge Island
Municipal Code, and in accordance with the basis for a rate structure set forth in BIMC 13.24.110, there
is levied upon all developed real property within the boundaries of the storm and surface water utility
service charges that shall be collected from the owners of such properties at a charge per impervious
surface unit (ISU) that shall be adopted by ordinance and published in the City's combined fee schedule;
WHEREAS, the City has determined that an increase is necessary for 2017; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The charge per impervious surface unit (ISU) for the City's storm and surface water
utility fees under Section 13.24 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code shall be $169.00 per ISU for
2017.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force on January 1, 2017, after its approval
and publication as required by law.
