ORD NO. 2017-15 DISCOUNTED UTILITY RATES (BIMC SECTION 13.16.086.F)ORDINANCE NO. 2017-15
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, amending
Section 13.16.086.17 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code relating to the
requirements for eligibility for discounted utility rates.
WHEREAS, RCW 35.67.020, 35.92.020 and 74.38.070 authorize the City to provide
water, sewer, and surface and storm water utility service at a discounted rate to low-income
senior citizens and low-income disabled citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is necessary to revise Section 13.16.086.F
BIMC for consistency with the state law;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 13.16.086.17 of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is amended to read
as follows:
F. For purposes of this chapter, a "senior citizen" is a person who is at 62
yeafs of age on the date of the person's applieation for a utilit-,rate feduakm
u r -this ehap meets the age qualifications for a property tax exemption under
RCW 84.36.381f.D.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days from and after its
passage and publication as required by law.
