[1] City decisions on shoreline variances, shoreline substantial development permits, and
shoreline conditional use permits must be reviewed by the Washington Department of Ecology
pursuant to WAC 173-27-130 and RCW 90.58.140(10). The Department of Ecology may
approve, approve with conditions, or deny the application.
[2] The hearing examiner’s decision is forwarded to the Department of Ecology (DOE) for
decision. The DOE decision is then appealable to the Shoreline Hearings Board. (See BIMC
2.16.165.I.)
