ORD NO. 2018-26 RELATING TO THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS SERVING ON ETACORDINANCE NO. 2018-26
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, relating
to the number of members serving on the City's Environmental Technical
Advisory Committee and amending Section 2.36.010 of the Bainbridge
Island Municipal Code ("BIMC").
WHEREAS, on May 9, 2001, the Mayor appointed the Environmental Technical
Advisory Committee ("ETAC") as a ninety -day committee; and
WHEREAS, on December 12, 2001, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2001-61,
authorizing the establishment of ETAC as a two-year committee with extensions of six
months by the Mayor as necessary; and
WHEREAS, on November 9, 2009, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2009-27,
establishing ETAC as a permanent committee; and
WHEREAS, on June 9, 2014, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2014-25,
clarifying the role, composition, and duties of ETAC by adopting a new Chapter 2.36
BIMC; and
WHEREAS, ETAC currently consists of seven members who are appointed by the
Mayor and confirmed by vote of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, on June 19, 2017, the Mayor nominated four individuals to fill four open
positions on ETAC (Positions 2, 3, 4, and 7); and
WHEREAS, on June 19, 2017, the Mayor also nominated two individuals to fill, for
staggered terms, two new positions on ETAC that are proposed to be created (Positions 8
and 9); and
WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to amend Chapter 2.36 BIMC to formally
expand the number of members that can serve on ETAC from seven to nine members.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE
ISLAND, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.36.010.A of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
A. There is created an environmental technical advisory committee for the
city, hereinafter called the committee. The committee shall consist of
sey nine members who shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed
by a vote of the city council.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from its passage,
approval, and publication as required by law.
