RES 2002-01 OPPOSING PROPOSED KITSAP COUNTY CHARTERRESOLUTION NO. 2002-01
A RESOLUTION of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, opposing the
proposed Kitsap County Charter.
WHEREAS, the Kitsap County Board of Freeholders have proposed a county
home rule charter for voters to approve or reject on February 5, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the proposed charter will diminish the effectiveness and
accountability of county government for the citizens of Kitsap County, including
Bainbridge Island; and
WHEREAS, the proposed charter will increase the cost of county government for
all citizens; and
WHEREAS, the proposed charter will lead to a diminishment of representative
government in Kitsap County;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAINBRIDGE ISLAND,
KITSAP COUNTY HEREBY RESOLVES:
That it opposes the proposed Kitsap County Charter.
PASSED by the City Council this 23rd day of January, 2002.
APPROVED by the Mayor this 1st day of February, 2002.
