Please also explain how the proposal prevents duplicating other services for Bainbridge Island residents. (Limit 3,000 Characters) Arts & Humanities Bainbridge (AHB) addresses critical community needs for accessible, inclusive, and high-quality cultural programming on Bainbridge Island. The Island has a vibrant arts community, yet opportunities for residents and visitors to experience diverse cultural expressions, participate in local arts, and engage with underrepresented artists and traditions remain limited. According to the City of Bainbridge Island’s 2016 Comprehensive Plan Cultural Element, “the arts and humanities are mechanisms for developing larger community values that are rooted in the interests of citizens such as economic vitality, quality education, andcommunity planning and design” and “contribute to the City’s identity, sense of place, and economy.” Our workdirectly supports these goals. AHB meets these needs by producing signature festivals and cultural programs, including The Creative Thread Festival (with our partner Bainbridge Quilt Festival) and the Asian Arts & Heritage Festival, the first ofits kind on the Island. These events provide opportunities for broad public participation, showcaseunderrepresented art forms, and foster cross-cultural understanding. Through performances, workshops, exhibitions, and outreach, AHB engages thousands of residents and visitors annually. Additionally, our Individual Artist Grants program directly supports local artists, enabling the creation of new work and strengthening the Island’s creative ecosystem. Funding allows artists to produce and share work that might otherwise be inaccessible to the public, enhancing cultural vitality and ensuring diverse perspectives are represented. AHB also prioritizes equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all programming. Events are free or low-cost, hosted in ADA-compliant venues, and designed to engage underserved populations. All board members participate in nonprofit DEI training, and staff have completed DEI certificate programs, ensuring that organizational practices reflect current best practices in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. By offering citywide programming, artist support, and community engagement, AHB complements rather thanduplicates other services on Bainbridge Island. While other organizations may focus on niche art forms, specific community groups, or private exhibitions, AHB provides broad, public-facing cultural experiences and grants that reach residents and visitors across demographics, art forms, and neighborhoods. This integrated approach ensures comprehensive public benefit while addressing gaps identified in City planning documents and community assessments. Through these initiatives, AHB strengthens Bainbridge Island’s cultural identity, promotes inclusion, and provides measurable public benefits in alignment with City goals, meeting ongoing community needs for accessible and meaningful arts and cultural experiences. V. Equity and Inclusion: All board members engage in nonprofit DEI training, staff have completed DEI certificateprograms, and programs are free or low-cost, ADA-compliant, and designed to engage underrepresented communities. AHB’s initiatives complement existing services and advance the City’s goals by enhancing cultural access, promoting inclusion, and supporting sustainable practices. VI. Specifically, how will it: - Involve significant community participation - Create access to human services activities for underserved or underrepresented groups of people - Strengthen organizational capacity; and/or foster opportunities for collaboration with the human services sector? (Limit 6,000 Characters) Arts & Humanities Bainbridge (AHB) improves cultural services on Bainbridge Island by providing accessible, inclusive, and high-quality arts programs and supporting local artists. Our work engages residents and visitors across age groups, cultural backgrounds, and skill levels, enriching the Island’s cultural ecosystem and fostering community cohesion. These events include interactive workshops, performances, exhibitions, and hands-on activities that invite direct participation from the public. Local artists, musicians, writers, and craftspeople are involved as performers, facilitators, and educators, providing multiple opportunities for community members to engage increating and experiencing art. Volunteers from across the Island contribute to festival operations, increasinglocal ownership and participation in cultural activities. Access for Underserved or Underrepresented Groups: AHB prioritizes equity and inclusion by designing programs that are accessible and welcoming to all. Events are free or low-cost, hosted in ADA-compliant spaces, and actively promoted to underrepresented populations. For example, the Asian Arts & Heritage Festival highlights Asian and Indopino cultures, providing visibility and access for communities whose voices are historically underrepresented in Island programming.Through targeted outreach and inclusive programming, AHB ensures that underserved groups have opportunities to engage with arts and culture, participate in workshops, and enjoy performances that reflect diverse cultural traditions. Strengthening Organizational Capacity:General operating support allows AHB to maintain and expand its infrastructure, including program management, financial oversight, marketing, and staff development. Stable funding ensures the sustainabilityof our festivals, grants, and outreach programs over the two-year funding cycle and beyond. By providingIndividual Artist Grants to 7–10 local artists annually, AHB strengthens the creative capacity of the Island’s arts ecosystem, enabling artists to develop new work and share it with the community. Administrative systems, program evaluation, and reporting structures are maintained and enhanced, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement. Collaboration within the Cultural Sector: AHB actively collaborates with local cultural organizations, schools, artists, and community groups to enhance program quality and reach. For instance, the Creative Thread Festival is co-produced with the Bainbridge Quilt Festival, and partnerships with schools, community centers, and cultural organizations extend the impact of our programs. These collaborations allow shared resources, expertise, and audiences, fostering a stronger, more connected cultural sector on the Island. Summary of Measurable Impact: Participation: Estimated 5,000+ community members attend AHB festivals and programs annually. Participation is tracked via registration, ticketing, and on-site counts. Artist Support: 7–10 local artists funded annually through Individual Artist Grants, measured via grant records, progress reports, and public exhibitions or performances. Inclusion: Demographic tracking and post-event surveys measure participation from underrepresented populations and assess accessibility improvements. Collaboration: Documented partnerships with local organizations, schools, and cultural institutions demonstrate shared resources and co-created programming. Through these activities, AHB improves services on Bainbridge Island by increasing cultural access, amplifying diverse voices, strengthening the Island’s arts ecosystem, and fostering collaboration across the cultural sector. Our work ensures that arts and culture remain integral to community life, enhancing quality of life, social cohesion, and the Island’s economic and cultural vitality. VII.
