PROCIAMATION
A PROCLAMATION by the City Council of the City of Bainbridge Island. Washington,
recognizing Memorial Day on May 25, 2026.
WHEREAS, Memorial Day is designated as an annual day of remembrance to honor all those who
have died in service to the United States during peace and war; and
WHEREAS, we remember the men and women from all corners of the United States and the service
personnel from our own community who have sacrificed their lives to maintain our security and the
liberties we hold dear; and
WHEREAS, you can honor the fallen by attending memorial services, laying wreaths and flowers and
planting flags on graves, educating children about the importance of the day, or observing the moment of
silence at 3:00 p.in. on Memorial Day to reflect on those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to our
state and nation; and
WHEREAS. we are thankful that we are rich in civic organizations such as the American Legion Colin
Hyde Post 172 who will conduct a Memorial Day Observance at the Bainbridge High School Veterans
Memorial Monument and at the Bud Hawk Memorial Park, American Legion Hall, NE Bucklin Hill Road
with Scout Troops I 564 and I 804, Cub Scouts Pack 4496, and guests on May 25, 2026.
NOW, THEREFORE,I, Clarence Moriwaki, Mayor of the City of Bainbridge Island, on behalf
of the City Council, do hereby recognize May 25, 2026, as Memorial Day in the City of Bainbridge Island
and ask all community members to remember those who have died in service to the united States.
